Print: Shawl Dancer

Description:  This print displays a very popular subject with both Allen and Patty for many years, the Shawl Dancer. Patty created this cast paper sculpture as a commissioned, one-third life-size piece for the corporate collection of the Raymond James Corporation.  This dance is often called the women’s fancy dance or butterfly dance, in Native American dance and competitive categories. It was developed by the Native American Indians who have advanced their dance competitions and categories at the many Powwows held around the country.  Including this athletic dance for girls and women, is actually an answer to the men’s “Fancy Dance”. The dance is done with a decorative and colorful shawl.  It is judged on the dancer’s native regalia, grace, athletic ability and overall creativity. The print is produced on archival photo paper using archival inks. It is signed and numbered by the artist.
