A few of the portraits in this section are commissioned pieces, some of which are historic, while others are contemporary. The piece called “Buffalo Soldier-Sgt. Grover Hanks,” is a contemporary in historic outfit. Grover is a Houston lawyer. The Service Memorials are all contemporary figures. One is Allen’s self-portrait “Marking the LZ”.
